Oscar winner Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and Oscar nominee Julie Walters (Educating Rita, Billy Elliot) star in The Secret Garden (2020).
Based on the Frances Hodgson Burnett novel, The Secret Garden stars newcomer Dixie Egerickx as the unloved Mary Lennox, sent to England after the death of her parents in India to live with her uncle Archibald (Firth) on his isolated country estate.
Marc Munden (TV’s Utopia) directed the film.
Harry Potter producer David Heyman produced. Shooting on The Secret Garden kicked off the first week of May 2018 in the U.K.
STX Entertainment picked up the rights to this film from Global Road Entertainment, which went bankrupt in 2018.
Originally scheduled for theatrical release in early 2020, the film was put on the shelf due to coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed. It is now getting an exclusive Video On Demand release on August 7, 2020.
