In the movie Shirley, a young married couple (Odessa Young and Logan Lerman) move in with Shirley Jackson (Elisabeth Moss) — the famed suspense author who wrote The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle — and her Bennington College professor husband, Stanley Edgar Hyman (Michael Stuhlbarg). The young couple hope to start a new life but instead find themselves as fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires Jackson’s next novel.
Originally scheduled for theatrical release on June 5, 2020, due to Wuhan coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed, the film bypassed movie theaters and debuted on Video On Demand June 5, 2020.
