Fishing With Dynamite is the true story of how corporations and Wall Street — with their obsession with short term profits — are blowing up American capitalism, and the role we all play in putting it back together. The film exposes the destructive effects of maximizing shareholder value capitalism and celebrates stakeholder companies that meet the needs of employees, customers, suppliers, investors, and the community and environment.
The title of the documentary refers to the practice of blast fishing, a wildly irresponsible way to fish that destroys the surrounding habitat, so do companies use risky, highly destructive tactics of their own for short-term increases to shareholder value.
Originally scheduled for theatrical release in 2020, due to Wuhan coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed, the film bypassed movie theaters and debuted on Video On Demand June 30, 2020.
