Tom Cruise is a genuine bad ass who is sure to make you sweat bullets, pop an Ambien, and have a full fledged heart attack, all in the span of two and a half hours in Mission Impossible: Fallout. Just when you think Cruise has done it all with his death defying stunts, you are wrong, and the fifty-six year old man has completely upped his game. From jumping out of a plane (over 100 times to get the scene right), running across rooftops in London, or climbing a rope attached to a flying helicopter, Cruise is sure to get your blood pumping.
Mission Impossible: Fallout begins with agent Ethan Hunt accepting another mission to save the world from destruction by terrorists, but this time the IMF team has teamed up with CIA assassin August Walker. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem, and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
The film is packed with the typical Mission Impossible antics. Facial 3D printing, double crossing agents, terrorists with diabolical plans to destroy the world. But what makes this film, and all of the Mission Impossible films so alluring is the fact that they always keep you in the edge of your seat. Do we know Tom Cruise is going to stop the bomb from exploding and wiping out an entire population? Of course! But does that stop us from biting our nails in anticipation that there may be the chance he doesn’t save the world this time? Hell no!
With incredible locations in Paris and London, doubled with high intensity action sequences, this film is the true epitome of a summer action film. Will it eclipse Jurassic World as the world wide top summer box office contender? It definitely has a chance. Will it be the highest grossing Mission Impossible film? Definitely.
Be prepared to go to the bathroom beforehand and grab a snack, because this flick is long.
