Miles Teller to play Goose’s Son in the Top Gun Sequel

Miles Teller has been tapped to play the son of Goose and Maverick’s new protege in Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the 1986 Cruise classic.

Cruise tested with Teller, Glen Powell and Nicholas Hoult for the role, ultimately choosing Teller.

Oblivion director Joe Kosinski is directing the new Top Gun. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the 1986 original, is producing with Cruise and Skydance CEO David Ellison.

This Top Gun film is set in a world of drone technology and fifth generation fighters along with exploring the end of the era of dogfighting.

In the original movie, Goose, played by Anthony Edwards, was the co-pilot to Cruise’s Maverick. His character died in the 1986 film.

Top Gun: Maverick is set to be released on July 12, 2019.
