Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Review by Dylan Tracy

June 19, 2018

Sure to be the biggest theatrical release this summer, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom delivers dinosaurs, explosions, and the beginning of a new age of Jurassic. With throwbacks to the original 1993 Jurassic Park (the original Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, Dr. John Hammond’s amber cane, and the return of Ian Malcom (Jeff Goldblum)) and touching on aspects of the story-line of the first film, Fallen Kingdom is what popcorn movies are supposed to be about, and it delivers in spades.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt return as the dynamic duo of Dr. Claire Dearing and Owen Grady, with newcomer Isabella Sermon, who is destined to become a new, familiar face in Hollywood. Claire and Owen are commissioned to return to Isla Nublar to save the dinosaurs after the island’s once dormant volcano is about to erupt and extinguish all life on the island. However after their return, they learn that they have been used to bring certain species back to the mainland to be sold on the black market. They escape a near death experience dodging Isla Nublar’s volcanic eruption, and follow the dinosaurs to help them escape and even foil an evil and corrupt operation.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom still

I had very high expectations for Fallen Kingdom, as I am not looking forward to seeing many films slated for release this summer. However, I am very pleased to say that it met my expectations for what I was hoping to see. Fallen Kingdom has an original plot, which doesn’t always happen in sequels or major franchises. It manages to capture the audience’s attention throughout its entirety, making you jump out of your seat, and at times even making you emotional. There’s nothing more heart wrenching than seeing a harmless Brachiosaurus cry as it’s enveloped by lava.

I look forward to seeing these dinosaurs smash box office records, and eagerly await the arrival of the third film in this installment in 2021, where who knows what Blue will be up to.
