Sony Pictures and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse are adapting the ABC TV series Fantasy Island into a feature film.
Truth or Dare director Jeff Wadlow is directing the film based on the hit series that ran from 1977 to 1984 and starred Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize. A revival of the series aired between 1998 and 1999.
Wadlow is also writing alongside Truth or Dare writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
The Fantasy Island TV series follows Mr. Roarke (Montalban), who grants the fantasies of people wanting to come visit to the titular island for a price. The series featured elements of the supernatural.
Truth or Dare, produced for $5 million, has almost made $100 million worldwide since its release in April. The horror film starred Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey.
No word yet on the cast for the movie adaptation, so stay tuned for updates.
