2019 Oscar Winners – Complete List

By Tim Nasson

Green Book won the 2019 Best Picture Oscar, even after Netflix spent over $30 million in marketing trying to buy their first Best Picture Oscar win for Roma. Most in the know knew that the chance of Roma actually winning the Best Picture Oscar was about as big as the epicenter of a 10.0 earthquake striking right under the Dolby Theater on Oscar night. While there will someday be the Big One, an earthquake that will undoubtedly knock Hollywood into the Pacific, it most likely isn’t going to be any time soon. In addition, with the majority of Academy voters despising Netflix’s business model, the chance of Netflix, any time soon, winning a Best Picture Oscar, the most coveted award in all of film, is next to zero.

Rami Malek, as expected, won the Best Actor Oscar for his starmaking turn in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Glenn Close, whom many, including myself, thought had the Best Actress Oscar win in the bag for her seventh acting Oscar nomination in The Wife, was disappointed again when Julia Roberts announced Olivia Colman as the Best Actress Oscar winner for The Favourite.

Roma did get some love in winning two big awards, Best Director for its writer, Alfonso Cuaron, and Best Foreign Film.
