My Spy

My Spy Release Date: June 26, 2020

My Spy follows a hardened CIA operative (Dave Bautista) who finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family.

The film was originally scheduled for release on August 23, 2019. STX Films, its distributor, pushed back the film’s release date to January 10, 2020, because they were concerned audiences wouldn’t want to see the film’s star, Bautista, in two films at the same time. The film was pushed back again, to March 13, 2020. Stay tuned to see if it ever makes it to the big screen. Update – STX sold this bomb to Amazon for direct to streaming.

Bautista’s Stuber (a box office bomb) arrived in theaters on July 12, 2019. To be honest, no one wants to see this actor at all. He seemingly has a great publicist and manager, both of whom are trying to turn him into an A-list actor. But it will never happen. Think Gretchen Mol circa 1999, when her publicist got her on the cover of Vanity Fair.

We are always right. (We were right when we predicted in September of 2019 – when publicists were in full whore mode – about Jennifer Lopez, Robert Pattinson and Adam Sandler being shoo-ins for acting Oscar nominations in 2020. Of course none of them were nominated. We were right, when we pontificated in early May 2020 about the fact that Tenet, Mulan and Wonder Woman 1984 would never see a theatrical release in the summer of 2020. And we are right about every prediction that we make, ALWAYS).

The film debuted exclusively on Prime Movies, bypassing movie theaters.
