The Sesame Street Movie, starring Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, is a musical drawing inspiration from the show’s theme song, with characters getting lost in NYC and trying to find their way back to Sesame Street.
The educational series, which premiered in 1969, features a combination of live-action and puppetry, as well as animation. It is best known as the home of the Jim Henson creations Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Elmo.
The last and only other time Sesame Street appeared on the big screen was in the 1985 film Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, which focused on a story of Big Bird finding a foster family. He realizes he belongs back on Sesame Street and embarks on a road trip across the country to get back to Sesame Street.
