A live-action feature film based on the popular line of Barbie dolls, Barbie is about a doll living in ‘Barbieland’ that is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world.
Amy Schumer was laughably originally cast in the lead role for the film. When whomever was on whatever drugs they were when they chose her to play the iconic doll finally came off their high, Anne Hathaway was cast as the lead in the film. Finally, when everyone realized that Margot Robbie would be the best bet to play the doll that has been around for 50+ years, she was hired.
The film was pushed back a full 2 years from its original August 2018 release date. An unknown was originally on hand to direct before Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig took on the chore.
