Ivan Reitman passed the Ghostbusters torch to his son. Four-time Oscar nominee Jason Reitman (Up In The Air, Juno, Tully) directed the new installment in the Ghostbusters series, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, this one picking up where Ghostbusters 2 left off, and which includes the cast from the first two Ghostbusters movies that are still alive.
In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
Ivan Reitman directed and produced the original Ghostbusters, which came out in 1984, and its sequel in 1989.
Sony attempted to reboot Ghostbusters in 2016 with gender-flipped leads, but the costly film disappointed at the box office and with critics.
