Cinderella (2021) is a non-Disney version of the famed fairy tale.
This Columbia Pictures incarnation is a modern day telling of the story and features Cuban born pop star Camila Cabello in the title role.
The film is written and directed by Kay Cannon, (the director of the raunchy 2018 teen film Blockers).
Walt Disney is clearly rolling in his grave, as his animated classic Cinderella (1950) is the be all, end all of the films featuring the princess in waiting.
Billy Porter plays the Fairy Godmother.
Originally scheduled for release on February 12, 2021, the filming of Cinderella was put on ice due to Wuhan coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed. Its new, tentative, release date is TBD.
