Unhinged

Unhinged Release Date: August 14, 2020

Unhinged is the first movie from the fledgling Solstice Studios. Stay tuned to see if the film actually is released in theaters on July 10, 2020.

Unhinged is a psychological thriller that takes something we’ve all experienced- road rage – to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion. Rachel (Caren Pistorius) is running late getting to work when she crosses paths with a stranger (Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind) at a traffic light. Soon, Rachel finds herself and everyone she loves the target of a man who feels invisible and is looking to make one last mark upon the world by teaching her a series of deadly lessons. What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse that proves you never know who you’re driving next to.

Originally scheduled for release July 1, 2020, the film was put on the shelf due to Wuhan coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed. Its new, tentative, release date is August 14, 2020.

Unhinged became a dichotomy ; it opened in U.S. movie theaters and earned over $15 million during its first two months in theaters. For a low budget movie, in the middle of a pandemic, those are not bad numbers. But a movie that costs more than $200 million to produce and market would need to make at least $200 million in the U.S., alone, to break even. Now you can see why blockbuster films are not being released in theaters in the U.S. during the pandemic.
