The big screen movie Downton Abbey, based on one of the most popular television series of all time, is written by Julian Fellowes and is directed by Brian Percival.
The film features the entire cast from the TV series, including Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Joanne Froggatt and Hugh Bonneville.
Downton Abbey, which concluded in 2015, portrays the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family in England and their servants amid the backdrop of such historic events as the sinking of the Titanic and World War I. It has become one of the most popular TV shows in the world, airing in over 150 countries.
