Child’s Play (2019) is a remake of the 1988 cult classic of the same name, in which a single mother gives her son a much sought-after doll for his birthday, only to discover that it is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. The original film gets an A+ grade from us. It is the precursor to all doll horror films.
The original Child’s Play movie spawned countless sequels, spin-offs and even a TV show featuring the demonic doll.
Catherine Hicks (7th Heaven) and Chris Sarandon (first husband of Oscar winner Susan Sarandon) costarred in the 1988 film. And Brad Douriff was the voice of Chucky. Mark Hamill is the voice of Chucky in this reboot.
In this 2019 Child’s Play remake, Aubrey Plaza stars as mother, Karen Barcly. Gabriel Bateman stars as her son, Andy. And Brian Tyree Henry plays detective Mike Mike Norris. The film’s director, Lars Klevberg, has only one other film under his belt, the still unreleased Polaroid, which is tied up in The Weinstein Co. fiasco.
