The Fog (1980)

The Fog (1980) Release Date: October 26, 2018

The Fog (1980) gets a 4K theatrical re-release courtesy of Rialto Pictures.

In the movie The Fog, from director John Carpenter, and starring Jamie Lee Curtis (and her mother Janet Leigh), and headlined by Adrienne Barbeau, a strange, glowing fog rolls over a small coastal town one hundred years after a mysterious shipwreck and when vengeful ghosts go on a killing spree, residents look for answers even as they try to survive.

The film earned $21,378,361 during its initial theatrical release, two years after John Carpenter’s Halloween launched and made a star out of Jamie Lee Curtis.

The new version restored the eerie color cinematography from director of photography Dean Cundey ( John Carpenter’s 1978 and 1981 Halloween and Halloween 2, respectively), who was later Oscar nominated for Who Framed Roger Rabbit and named the 2014 American Society of Cinematographers Lifetime Achievement Award honoree.

The film was remade in 2005 and bombed at the movie box office.
