In the movie Mountain Rest, having sequestered herself in a remote cabin in the mountains for years, eccentric former actress, Ethel (Frances Conroy) discovers she only has months to live and attempts to make amends with her estranged daughter, Frankie (Kate Lyn Sheil) and granddaughter Clara (Natalia Dyer) who Ethel has never met. Planning an extravagant party with the help of her companion and caretaker Bascolm (Shawn Hatosy) as a last “hoo-rah”, Frankie and Clara soon learn that Ethel’s world is not quite as it seems. Over the weekend’s festivities, Ethel blurs the lines between truth and fiction, which culminate in unsettling revelations, forcing everyone to reconsider the roles they play in each other’s lives.
