In The Little Mermaid (2018) DVD, after two little girls fail to believe the story of The Little Mermaid told to them by their grandmother, she surprises them by telling them another tale: Cam Harrison, a reporter just starting out in his career, receives orders from his editor to investigate stories of a real mermaid appearance at a circus in Mississippi. Cam, along with his little sister Elle, go to the circus and find a woman named Elizabeth, who seems to have a real tail, swimming in a large fish tank for the crowds. At first Cam believes she’s a fake, until she seeks him out on dry land with two legs and then transforms in water. Elizabeth has been imprisoned by the sideshow host, Locke, who has taken control of her soul. When Cam learns that Elle might be the only one able to save Elizabeth, he must decide whether to protect his sister or follow his heart.
