Winner of the Audience Award at the 2017 Chicago Critics Film Festival, the unforgettable film follows the spiritual journey of Lucky (Harry Dean Stanton), a 90-year-old atheist, after a health scare encourages him to explore the true meaning of existence and mortality.
In actor John Carroll Lynch’s (Fargo) directorial debut, and inspired by the life of Stanton, Lucky provides a raw look at one man’s deep self-exploration during his assumed brink of life. Having out lived those closest to him, Lucky starts to reevaluate his lonely, mundane routines – eating breakfast by himself at the only diner in town, completing crossword puzzles, smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, and drinking at the local bar before heading home to watch his shows alone. Through seemingly small encounters with those in his small desert town, such as Howard (Four-time Oscar nominated director David Lynch, “Twin Peaks”), Bobby Lawrence (Ron Livingston, The Conjuring), Dr. Christian Kneedler (Golden Globe nominee Ed Begley, Jr., St. Elsewhere) and Fred (Golden Globe nominee Tom Skerritt, Picket Fences), Lucky ultimately evolves his previously impenetrable definition of life and death.
