The Disaster Artist tells the story of aspiring actor Greg Sister (Dave Franco) who befriends the eccentric Tommy Wiseau (James Franco). The two travel to L.A, and when Hollywood rejects them, Tommy decides to write, direct, produce and star in their own movie. That movie is The Room, which has attained cult status as the “Citizen Kane” of bad movies.
The Room tells the story of Johnny, who is a successful banker and who lives happily in a San Francisco townhouse with his fiancée, Lisa. One day, inexplicably, she gets bored with him and decides to seduce his best friend, Mark. From there, nothing will be the same again. The film The Room has a 3.6 rating out of 10 on IMDB.
James Franco, who stars in and directed the movie The Disaster Artist, stayed in character as Tommy Wiseau in between shots while directing the film. James Franco has been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for the 2011 movie 127 Hours.
This is the first time that brothers James Franco and Dave Franco appear on the big screen together.
