James Gunn, the 47-year-old baby-faced director of the first Guardians movie, returns to the director’s chair for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. James Gunn’s only other big screen directorial effort was the 2006 sci-fi/horror film Slither. He has signed a contract to direct Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2020.
The first Guardians Of The Galaxy was the third highest grossing movie of 2014, taking in just over $333 million at the U.S. movie box office. (#2 at the box office was Mockingjay: Part 1, with $337 million and at #1 was American Sniper, with $350 million).
