In the movie Sing, from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (the folks behind all of the Despicable Me movies) a koala named Buster recruits his best friend to help him drum up business for his theater by hosting a singing competition.
What makes the animated movie Sing unique is that it features over 85 hit songs from the 1940s to the present day, including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, which is featured in the trailer. And its star power lending their talents to voices, which include Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Jennifer Saunders, Nick Kroll, Nick Offerman, John C. Reilly and Leslie Jones, to name just a few.
Sing is Reese Witherspoon’s first animated movie since Monsters vs. Aliens (2009).
Interestingly, rather than the traditional animation method, the producers of Sing chose to use motion capture technology and specially trained animals, to act out each of the movie’s scenes.
This is the first time that two Universal Pictures/Illumination films have been released during the same year. The Secret Life of Pets (2016) is a summer 2016 theatrical release.
Seth MacFarlane lends his voice to the movie Sing, the first time that his voice has been used in anything other than a movie or TV show that he has produced.
Wild About Movies exclusively debuted the Sing trailer on President’s Day 2016, over eleven months before the film’s release.
