The movie Vacation – Vacation 2015 – is not a remake of the 1983 movie of the same name. It’s a sequel/remake – and the Griswold family is back.
In the 2015 movie Vacation Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) takes his own family on a road trip to “Walley World” in order to spice things up with his wife (Christina Applegate) and reconnect with his sons.
Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are back as parents Clark and Ellen Griswold. Lesley Mann plays sister Audrey Griswold. Chris Hemsworth costars in a comedic role.
The original Vacation arrived in movie theaters on July 29, 1983 and earned $61,399,552 at the U.S. movie box office during its original theatrical run. It was directed by the late Harold Ramis. It was written by the late John Hughes, who went on to write and direct some of the biggest comedies of the 1980s, including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink and Sixteen Candles.
Warner Bros., on the last day of March 2015, changed the theatrical release date of Vacation from October 9, 2015 to July 29, 2015, thereby putting it on track – hopefully – to be as successful as the original, which was released July 29, 1983.
