In The Heart Of The Sea tells the story of the men who faced the myth, Moby-Dick.
The book Moby Dick is one of the most popular ever written.
The 1956 movie Moby Dick, based on that novel, was directed by John Huston and featured Gregory Peck as the famed, fictional Captain Ahab.
The movie In The Heart Of The Sea, directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) and is based on the NY Times Best Selling book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex (winner of the National Book Award for Nonfiction in the year 2000), by Nathaniel Philbrick, which itself is based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship from Massachusetts that is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.
Originally scheduled (inexplicably) for release on March 13, 2015, Warner Bros. wised up and pushed the film back to Christmas 2015 season, so that it will qualify more easily for 2016 Oscars.
