On March 26, 2015, the Classification and Rating Appeals Board overturned the R rating given to Barely Lethal for sexual material and teen drinking. Barely Lethal, starring Hailee Steinfeld, is now rated PG-13 for sexual material, teen drinking, language, drug references and some action violence.
In February 2015, DirecTV and A24 Film picked up U.S. rights to the film; meaning the movie gets a day and date limited theatrical release (no major chains) and VOD (Video On Demand) release.
The film, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba, follows a 16-year-old (Hailee Steinfeld) trained assassin who runs away to live a normal high school life, only to discover that fitting in isn’t as easy as she would have hoped.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, Jaime King, Thomas Mann, Rob Huebel and Dove Cameron round out the cast.
