On the outskirts of the Civil War, a boy is sent by a bounty hunter gang to retrieve a wanted freedman and bring him back to the South, but as they begin to form an unexpected bond, the boy must face a gut-wrenching decision.
The movie The Retrieval won the Best Picture, Best Director (Chris Eska) and Best Ensemble awards at the 2013 Phoenix Film Festival.
Wild About Movies publisher Tim Nasson calls The Retrieval “a movie ten times better than 12 Years A Slave.” Sadly, the movie The Retrieval did not get picked up by a major movie studio, as did 12 Years A Slave, so its awards chances – Oscars and Golden Globes – are almost less than zero.
