The sequel (this one not written by Jason Segel) to the 2011 big screen movie The Muppets is officially entitled Muppets: Most Wanted.
“Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine – the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit – and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. Featuring Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
The four-fingered muppets have appeared in an array of big screen movies since the first, The Muppet Movie, in 1979 (see poster below). Among them, some hits; The Muppets Take Manhattan (1983), The Great Muppet Caper (1981). And some misses; Muppets From Space (1999) and Muppet Treasure Island (1996).
Now that The Muppets are in Walt Disney’s hands, expect hit after hit when it comes to theatrical releases.
