MGM went with two unknowns for the Robocop remake – director and star – in this very long delayed remake.
Unknown to U.S. movie audiences, Joel Kinnaman steps into the new Robocop suit. Joel Kinnaman was born in 1979 and is well known in his native Stockholm, Sweden. He can be seen on AMC television series The Killing, as character Stephen Holder.
Director Jose Padhila is best known for two critically acclaimed Brazillian movies, Elite Squad (2007) and its sequel, Elite Squad: Enemy Within (2010).
