Interior Leather Bar

Interior Leather Bar Release Date: January 3, 2014

Gay in real life James Franco produced, wrote and co-directed the movie Interior Leather Bar.

Filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews re-imagine the lost 40 minutes from “Cruising” as a starting point to a broader exploration of homosexual and creative freedom.

Cruising was the 1980 movie starring Al Pacino that was directed by William Friedkin that told the story of a cop who goes undercover in the sleazy subculture of NYC leather bars to catch a serial killer who is murdering gay men who have a penchant for S&M.

Interior Leather Bar clocks in at exactly 60 minutes, making it one of the shortest feature films ever released in U.S. movie theaters. To qualify for Oscar nominations in the feature film category, a movie must run at least 40 minutes.
