The Angels Share

The Angels Share Release Date: April 12, 2013

From the acclaimed and gifted director Ken Loach in The Angels Share, narrowly avoiding jail, new dad Robbie vows to turn over a new leaf. A visit to a whisky distillery inspires him and his mates to seek a way out of their hopeless lives.

Tim Nasson, publisher of Wild About Movies, remembers interviewing the renowned director in Boston when the director came through town on publicity tours for Riff Raff and Ladybird Ladybird in the early 1990s.

How times have changed. Not only have the movie theaters that played art movies in Boston all closed, including the Copley Place Theater and the Nickelodeon, virtually all art theaters across America have closed, with the exception of the Landmark Theater chains and select theaters still operating in NYC and Los Angeles.

With the movie The Angels Share, the studio knew it wouldn’t make a dime in the U.S. at movie theaters and didn’t even spend the money on a poster. So sad.
