Based on the novel One Shot from NY Times Best Selling author Lee Child.
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me.
And sure enough, ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) is coming. He knows this shooter-a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right-and soon the slam-dunk case explodes.
Now Jack Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning-and then beat him shot for shot.
Tom Cruise, who produced the Jack Reacher movie, cast himself in the role. There are seventeen novels featuring Jack Reacher, from author Lee Child. Jack Reacher is 6 feet, 5 inches tall, a full one foot taller than Tom Cruise is in real life. Saying that Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher is a stretch, pun intended, is an understatement. If Tom Cruise had not produced the movie (put up most of the money himself, and believed in himself so much) there is no way he would have been cast in the role. There is an outcry from Jack Reacher fans worldwide – Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher, no matter how much CGI is employed.
Excerpt from A Wanted Man, the latest Jack Reacher novel, (released in book stores September 2012): “He was the largest man she had ever seen outside of the NFL. He was extremely tall (6′, 5″) and extremely broad (250lbs), and long-armed and long-legged. His neck was thick and his hands were the size of dinner plates.”
