The 2012 Oscar Nominee for Best Foreign Film, Bullhead, is an exciting tragedy about fate, lost innocence and friendship, about crime and punishment, but also about conflicting desires and the irreversibility of a man’s destiny.
The young Limburg cattle farmer Jacky is approached by an unscrupulous veterinarian to make a shady deal with a notorious West Flemish beef trader. But the assassination of a federal policeman, and an unexpected confrontation with a mysterious secret from Jacky’s past, set in motion a chain of events with farreaching consequences.
Star Matthias Schoenaerts spent two years preparing for his role as Jacky Vanmarsenille in Michaël R. Roskam’s Academy Award-nominated film BULLHEAD, as you can see by his imposing physique on the new one-sheet. After Schoenaerts committed to playing a long-time steroid user in the film, he underwent an extraordinary transformation, gaining sixty pounds of muscle. Schoenaerts managed this remarkable accomplishment through “a diet of 3000 tins of tuna, several hundred chickens and plenty of oats, rice and pasta combined with an exhausting iron pumping workout regimen.” Schoenaerts will next star with Marion Cotillard in Jacques Audiards’ (A PROPHET) RUST AND BONE, recently acquired by Sony Pictures Classics.
