The Women (2008)

The Women (2008) Release Date: October 7, 2011

“The Women” – “The Women” is a remake of the 1939 George Cukor classic.

The story of the Diane English (creator of TV’s “Murphy Brown”) remake of “The Women,” centers on a group of gossipy, high-society women who spend their days at the beauty salon and haunting fashion shows. The sweet, happily-wedded Mary Haines (Meg Ryan) finds her marriage in trouble when shop girl Crystal Allen (Eva Mendes) gets her hooks into Mary’s man. Naturally, this situation becomes the hot talk amongst Mary’s catty friends, especially the scandalmonger Sylvia Fowler (Annette Bening), who has little room to talk – she finds herself on a train to Reno and headed for divorce right after Mary. But with a bit of guts and daring, Mary snatches her man right back from Crystal’s clutches.

“Dancing With The Stars: 2008” contestant – and Oscar nominee – Cloris Leachman costars in “The Women” and happens to be the only member of the cast to not only have been alive when the original was shown in movie theaters, but also old enough, thirteen, to have seen it when it originally played in movie theaters.
