The Law Release Date: June 23, 2010

The French classic “The Law,” previously released in the United States as “Where the Hot Wind Blows” in 1959 stars the big screen icon (sex goddess) Gina Lollobrigida as Marietta, the gorgeous housekeeper to Don Cesare (Pierre Brasseur), the patriarch of a small Mediterranean coastal town. Lusted after by many men, including Francesco (Yves Montand), the local crime boss, Marietta has her own desires, consisting of the poor Enrico (Marcello Mastroianni). Determined to secure the dowry that will enable her to marry Enrico, Marietta connives the men of the town by turning the tables on them using their own vicious drinking game, which they call “The Law.” 50 years after it’s initial bow, Oscilloscope Laboratories rereleases “The Law” theatrically with newly struck 35mm prints derived from the original archival film elements and a brand new English language subtitle translation, by renowned subtitler Lenny Borger.
