Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief Release Date: February 12, 2010

“Percy Jackson” – In the movie “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” a young boy (Logan Lerman) discovers he’s the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods. The movie is based on the first book – of the same name – in the “Percy Jackson” saga by Rick Riordan.

Will “Percy Jackson” become the next “Harry Potter” – of the big screen – with countless sequels? If the director is any indication, yes. Chris Columbus, who helmed the first two “Harry Potter” movies, takes charge of the first in presumably many “Percy Jackson” big screen films.

Then again, lest one not forget the last time 20th Century Fox attempted to ignite a film franchise based on a mega best selling kids novel – “Eragon.”

If “Percy Jackson” is a movie box office hit, then the film’s star, up and coming Logan Lerman, who grew up in Beverly Hills, (rather than across the pond, as did Daniel Radcliffe), will become a household name and may also go pantless on Broadway.
