“The Bad Lieutenant 2009” – Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (“Leaving Las Vegas”) stars in the lead, as “The Bad Lieutenant,” a remake of the 1992 film of the same name.The original film starred Harvey Keitel and was directed by Abel Ferrara from a screenplay by Abel Ferrara. That film received an NC-17 rating with the depraved title character heavily involved in drugs, gambling, sex and stealing while a New York police officer. It also featured a prominent scene of Harvey Kietel in full frontal mode. The movie did not do any wonders for Abel Ferrara nor Harvey Kietel? What have they done of any significance since?
Acclaimed foreign director Werner Herzog tackles this remake of “The Bad Lieutenant,” which, in addition to Nicolas Cage, features a cast of D-list actors.
No word yet on whether Nicolas Cage shows us his package in his version of “The Bad Lieutenant” – as Harvey Keitel did in the original. Stay tuned.
