"Nine" "Nine Trailer" - First Look "Nine" - In Movie Theaters TBD 2010
"Nine" - The movie "Nine" follows the life of famous film director Guido Contini as he reaches a creative and personal crisis and has to balance the numerous women in his life, including his wife, his mistress, his film-star muse, his agent and his mother.
Just look at the cast of the movie "Nine." A menagerie of Oscar winning acting talent; Daniel Day Lewis (Best Actor Oscar winner for "There Will Be Blood") as Guido Contini. Marion Cotillard (Best Actress Oscar winner for "La Vie En Rose") as his wife, Luisa. Nicole Kidman (Best Actress Oscar winner for "The Hours") as Guido's mistress. Dame Judi Dench (Oscar winner for "Shakespeare In Love") as Liliane La Fleur. Sophia Loren (Ademy Award winning Best Actress for "Two Women") is Mamma.
"Nine" also stars musical superstar Fergie, Oscar nominated actress Kate Hudson ("Almost Famous") and Oscar winner Penelope Cruz ("Volver").
The movie "Nine" is based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name.
The story of the play "Nine" is based on an Italian play by Mario Fratti inspired by Federico Fellini's autobiographical film "8 1/2." The original Broadway production of "Nine" opened in 1982 and ran for 729 performances, starring Raul Julia. The Broadway musical won five Tony Awards, including best musical, and has enjoyed a number of revivals.
The late Anthony Minghella (Oscar winning director of "The English Patient") polished the "Nine" screenplay.
The only bad news involving the movie "Nine" - its distributor is The Weinstein Co. And, as everyone knows, the incompetents at The Weinstein Co. pushed back virtually their whole big screen 2008 movie catalog, movies that would have been eligible for 2009 Oscars, including "The Road,""Crossing Over," "Shanghai."
According to reports, the cash strapped Weinstein Co. is doing the same thing with "Nine" - a movie that could have won a slew of Oscars, but which we may not see until half the cast has passed, if ever.
