“I’m Not There” is the utterly bizarre biographical film about legendary singer and songwriter Bob Dylan – from director Todd Haynes, his follow up to “Far From Heaven,” by far, his best film to date.
“I’m Not There” follows six distinct characters, (Christian Bale; Richard Gere; Cate Blanchett – yes, a female in drag playing Dylan; Marcus Carl Franklin; Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw), depicting different stages of Bob Dylan’s life, embodying a different aspect of his life story and music.
It’s the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the music legend – yet he doesn’t even appear in the movie “I’m Not There.”
