"Sherlock Holmes" "Sherlock Holmes Trailer" - First Look "Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes Movie" - In Movie Theaters December 25, 2009 ![]() "Sherlock Holmes" - In Guy Ritchie's first major motion picture - a movie starring A-list movie star talent, and produced and released by a major movie studio, Warner Bros. - "Sherlock Holmes," Detective Sherlock Holmes (none other than "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" star Robert Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Jude Law) engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England. The inestimable Rachel McAdams costars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. Mark Strong stars as the mysterious new adversary, Blackwood. Kelly Reilly plays Watson's love interest, Mary. We're wondering, since Guy Ritchie's movies are always laden with profanity, how many times Jude Law will uttter the phrase "No shit, Sherlock." This, the movie "Sherlock Holmes," is the first that Guy Ritchie is contractually obligated to deliver a PG-13 rating. Guy Ritchie most recently wrote, directed and produced the action comedy "RocknRolla," a box office success which opened at number one in the U.K. The film, released in the US by Warner Independent, earned the most per screen, in limited release, than any other movie, its week of release. Guy Ritchie's previous writing and directing credits include "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," "Snatch" and "Revolver."
