"Grand Theft Auto 4"
- In "Grand Theft Auto 4," (expected to take in over $500 million, worldwide, its first week in stores), for Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and are dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very often different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't. Developed by Rockstar North, "Grand Theft Auto IV" will be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system on April 29, 2008.

Complete 2008 Movie Release Schedule

Grand Theft Auto IV

April is not traditionally a time for big video game releases, but "Grand Theft Auto 4" was pushed back from its original release date of October 2007. So now the title from Rockstar Games comes just three days before the start of the summer movie season and during the first week of May sweeps.

Paramount's "Iron Man," the first movie with a chance to break the $200 million mark at the North American movie box office this year, opens May 2, only three days after the "Grand Theft Auto IV" bow. Though they're targeting the same audience, most critics feel "Grand Theft Auto 4" players will take time out from their game to see the superhero film "Iron Man." But the ripple effect on other films throughout the summer could be a factor -- and the effect on TV could be immediate.
