"Angels & Demons," the follow up to the 2006 big screen movie "The DaVinci Code," captured the #1 spot at the movie box office its first weekend in movie theaters, grabbing $48 million.

However, it performed poorly, compared to its predecessor, "The DaVinci Code," which stole over $77 million - at 2006 movie box office prices - its first three days in theaters.

"Star Trek" - its second weekend in movie theaters - grabbed the #2 spot and $43 million for a ten day total of $148 million.
