"October 12-14, 2007 Movie Box Office"
"Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Why Did I Get Married? PosterWe're not sure why we at Wild About Movies were the only legitimate medium in the world (literally) to predict that Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" would debut in the #1 spot at the box office. That being said, we're glad we were right - the third weekend in a row - predicting the #1 movie at the box office. (Remember, three weeks ago, everyone else predicted "The Kingdom" would clean up at the box office. And last week, we were called 'crazy' for thinking that "The Rock," in his second weekend, in "The Game Plan," could out-do Ben Stiller's "The Heartbreak Kid.") Starting next weekend we will be debuting: Box Office Predictions. In any event, the two movies that all 'experts' thought would be fighting it out for #1 this weekend, Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix's "We Own The Night" and George Clooney's "Michael Clayton," settled for a #3 tie - each with $11 million. Yes, "The Game Plan" was #2 with $11.5 million. The sequel to "Elizabeth," set sail, (even though it should have remained docked) - and managed only $6 million for the weekend. Also in wide release: the kid friendly (but dreadful) baseball flick, "The Final Season" - it bombed with less than $660 per screen, compared to over $10,600 per screen for "Why Did I Get Married?" New limited releases include something for everyone: The horror movie "House," "Naked Boys Singing," "Terror's Advocate," "Sleuth" and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa." The best new movie of the weekend? 2007 Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling in "Lars and the Real Girl." "Lars" is only in seven LA & NYC theaters this weekend. But, we give you the chance to print passes to upcoming "Lars" screenings in Boston, Chicago, Tampa and many other cities around the country. And we bring you a video interview with Ryan Gosling. Once again, the #1 Movie of the weekend, "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?" The film took in over $21 million its first weekend in theaters.
