"Spiderman 3" - #1

Spiderman 3 Movie Poster

While "Spiderman 3" can lay claim to taking in more money at the box office than any other movie in its first day, and its first weekend in theaters, it is hardly #1 when you factor in tickets sold.

In its first weekend, "Spiderman 3" had only one new wide release as competition. The one movie studio, Warner Bros., that had the confidence to release a movie, "Lucky You," opposite "Spiderman 3," proved to be mistaken in their efforts - unless dumping the movie, a dreadful film, held back for nearly a year, and seeing it tank is what they hoped for.

"Lucky You," starring Drew Barrymore and the Hulk, Eric Bana, took in a pitiful $2.7 million in the same time period that "Spiderman 3" accumulated $151 million.

Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse" continues to embarass. The film, in theaters for just over one month, was beat at the box office by Ben Stiller's "Night At The Museum," which is also on DVD - and has been in theaters since Christmas.
