Shrek 3 Movie Poster

"Spiderman 3" could only hold on to the #1 spot at the box office for 2 weekends. "Shrek 3" didn't get caught up in its web, rather untangled it, capturing over $122 million in its first three days in theaters. Nonetheless, "Shrek 3" topped off with nearly $30 million less than "Spiderman 3" did in its first weekend in theaters.

"Shrek 3" has not a chance of retaining the #1 spot next weekend, when the third "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie sails into theaters - during the long Memorial Day Weekend.
