"The Golden Compass" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Golden Compass Poster

New in theaters this weekend, an almost surefire Best Picture Oscar contender - "Atonement," the dreadful Nicole Kidman/Daniel Craig anti-Christian fantasy, "The Golden Compass." Also, John Cusack in "Grace Is Gone," and what may be his first Best Actor Oscar nominated performance. In a very select number of movie theaters - "Juno." However, there are still more than 150 Free Advance "Juno" movie screenings that you can print passes to right here at Wild About Movies. Just click here - and then on the "Juno" poster. While "The Golden Compass" took in $25 million at the box office, it is a disaster in the making. No surprise, since the word of mouth is and will continue to be dreadful. New Line, the film's distributor, was predicting a weekend box office total of nearly double what "The Golden Compass" actually took in. "The Golden Compass" cost more than $225 million, when factoring in both filming and marketing and will never make its money back through the United States movie box office.
