"Rob Zombie's Halloween" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Halloween Movie PosterRob Zombie's "Halloween," a reinvention of the original 1970s film that made Jamie Lee Curtis a star hit theaters this weekend- two full months before the annual pagan holiday of the same name. The studios releasing Halloweeen, (Dimension and MGM - both who have not had a hit forever), have so much confidence in Zombie and his film that they actually think it will still be in theaters come October 31, 2007. However, after seeing it, we're confident that they'll have enough time to rush it onto DVD in time for Halloween - with "Saw 4" (watch the "Saw 4" teaser trailer, finally), not having to worry about retaining its #1 spot for the fourth Halloween in a row. Because Rob Zombie's "Halloween" movie won't be in first run theaters for more than three weeks. Two full weeks would be a miracle. The rest of new fare in theaters this weekend also include extremely violent and or utterly dark and depressing films, which canceled each other out at the box office: "Death Sentence," "Exiled," "The Nines," "Self Medicated". The only alleged comedy is "Balls Of Fury," and it doesn't have the balls, even the teeniest, to be even remotely funny in a ha-ha way. By the way, "Balls Of Fury" took in only $16 million during its first six days in theaters. Yes, it lived up to its name. Little balls. The daily totals for "Halloween" dropped precipitously. First day, Friday, gross for "Halloween" - $11 million. Saturday gross - $8.5 million. Sunday gross - $6.9 million. Labor Day, $4.5 million. FYI - "Death Sentence," the only other new movie in wide release, took in less than $5 million during its first four days in theaters. End of story- we mean "End Of Summer Movie Season." Thank heavens!
