"December 5-7, 2008 Movie Box Office"
"Four Christmases" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Last week's #1 movie at the movie box office, "Four Christmases," secured a second weekend at the top spot, $18,000,000; with "Twilight" - the worldwide movie box office sensation - biting at its heels for #2 with $13,000,000.
"The Punisher: War Zone" bombed at the movie box, grabbing the #8 spot, its first weekend in movie theaters, taking in a measley $4 million. "Cadillac Records" - starring Beyonce and Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody - in less than 700 theaters, nationwide, its first weekend in movie theaters, took in $3.5 million, or $5,102 per screen. (Not bad, considering this weekend's #1 movie, "Four Christmases," earned only $5450 per screen.) In fact, "Transporter 3," in its second weekend of release, one-upped "The Punisher 2" at the movie box office.
"Frost/Nixon," released in only 3 theaters this weekend, grabbed the #1 per screen average at the movie box office - over $60,000 per venue. Look for stars Frank Langella (who portrays United States President Richard Nixon), to earn a "2009 Oscar Nomination for Best Actor."
"Nobel Son" bombed spectacularly, earning the bragging rights as one of the biggest bombs at the movie box office in semi wide release, (over 800 theaters), this decade. It's three day take, $371,000.
This first week of December is one of the best this year for independent movies at the movie box office. In addition to the horse out of the gate success of "Frost/Nixon" - in only three movie theaters - the continuing limited releases, (which are expanding slowly throughout the nation, for Top 10 List consideration and Oscar buzz), the Danny Boyle film "Slumdog Millionaire," and "Milk," starring Oscar winner Sean Penn, based on the life of the late gay rights activist Harvey Milk, cleaned up at the movie box office.
