A remake, albeit with a black actress, of the 1982 movie of the same name, which was based on the Tony winning Broadway musical of the same name.
Polictical correctness has gone a little too far with the remake of Annie turning into a nearly all-‘black’ production.
First of all, the movie does not need to be remade.
Secondly, surely without rap songs.
The spoof website The Onion called her just before the 2013 Oscar ceremony, Quvagina Wallis, (as Guillermo on Jimmy Kimmel Live calls her), or whatever her name is, is hardly what one would expect to play little orphanesse Annie.
What’s worse, the disgusting Jay-Z is writing all new songs for the movie. Gag us now. And consider yourself warned. Remember, Jay-Z did all of the music for the box office and soundtrack bombs The Great Gatsby 2013.
Spawn of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow, was originally going to play Annie in the big screen remake, but she got smart and told mommy and daddy she was done with making movies.
Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith remain producers on the big screen Annie remake.
Oscar winner Sandra Bullock signed to star as the evil Miss Hannigan, who was portrayed by Carol Burnett in the original Annie movie. However, after thinking twice about the role, Sandra Bullock balked and backed out. Cameron Diaz is Miss Hannigan, now, and does a terrible job (compared to the Oscar worthy performance that Carol Burnett gave in 1982 in the original Annie movie).
Carol Burnett received a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination for her role as Miss Hannigan, as did the star of Annie, Aileen Quinn. Neither of the actresses went on to earn Oscar nominations for their roles, however.
We’re confident that no one from this Annie receives an Oscar nomination. However, the ass-kissing members of The Hollywood Foreign Press, who give out Golden Globe Awards, may nominate Quavagina Wallis for her uninspiring role as Annie.
