In this retelling of Rick Riordan’s book, “The Sea of Monsters”, Percy Jackson, accompanied by his friends Annabeth Chase, Clarisse La Rue and Tyson, his half brother, goes on a journey to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden Fleece and save Camp Half-Blood.
The first Percy Jackson movie, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, was released in theaters on February 12, 2010. The film, which took in $88,768,303 in the United States and $137,728,906 elsewhere, but cost more than $100 million to produce.
While the movie took in over $200 million at the worldwide movie box office, the studio recevied just over half that amount, as the movie theaters receive, on average, 50% of a film’s gross, during its entire theatrical run.
